'It's up to us to frustrate England,' Swiss coach Murat Yakin says.

In a tantalizing quarter-final clash, England, buoyed by Jude Bellingham's spectacular last-minute heroics, will take on a formidable Switzerland side aiming for a semi-final berth at the Merkur Spiel Arena.

England

It was Jude Bellingham’s bicycle kick, thirty seconds shy of full-time, that ensured England would remain in the tournament before they went on to defeat Slovakia by 2-1 after extra time. A towering header from Harry Kane in the first minute of extra time wrapped up the win at Veltins Arena to help England set up a quarter-final clash against Switzerland. England have now reached the quarterfinals in all four of their major tournaments under Gareth Southgate.

Meanwhile, this will be the fourth meeting between England and Switzerland at a major tournament and the third at the UEFA European Championship. England will be looking to qualify for the semifinals after losing only one of their last 24 games against Switzerland in all competitions.

A 3—4—2—1 with Harry Kane in attack is expected for Saturday’s clash. Phil Foden could team up with Jude Bellingham, right behind Harry Kane. Ivan Toney, who got the assist for the winner against Slovakia, might be seen earlier, having come in at extra time last time out.

‘I’m annoyed, but there’s still 30 minutes of football to play, and you have got to come out of that mood and focus. You have got to play your part, and I managed to do that,’ Toney said in a pre-match press conference. Meanwhile, Southgate will be without Marc Guéhi, who has been one of England’s key players in defence.

Switzerland

Unlike England, Switzerland didn't have much trouble getting into the quarterfinals, having swept Italy aside with a 2-0 win. This will mark Switzerland’s fifth appearance in the quarterfinals of a major tournament, whether in the FIFA World Cup or the Euros.

Switzerland has lost only one game in their last 14 UEFA European Championship matches, boasting a record of five wins, eight draws, and one loss. They'll be keen to advance to the semi-finals ahead of England.

“They are a tournament team who know how they reached the final three years ago, how good they are, and what great players they have,” Swiss coach Murat Yakin stated in a pre-match press conference. “It’s up to us to frustrate another big opponent and to play the game we know how to play. It's a game where anything is possible. I hope that luck is on our side again,” he added.

A 3-4-2-1 formation with Embolo in attack is expected for Saturday’s clash against England.
