Spain on the verge of record fourth European Championship title.

As Spain and England prepare for an electrifying European Championship final showdown at Berlin's Olympiastadion, both teams aim to etch their names in history: Spain chasing an unprecedented fourth title and England seeking their first major trophy since 1966.

Spain

Three-time champions Spain are on the verge of making history as the first nation to secure four UEFA European Championship titles. La Roja reached the final after a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over France, with Lamine Yamal's exquisite left-footed curling effort equalizing the match before Dani Olmo scored the winner.

This will be the third meeting between Spain and England in the European Championship, with La Roja failing to win the previous two encounters. Spain, however, has triumphed in its last three major tournament finals and could become the first nation to win four successive major tournament finals across FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro.

Vivian confidently stated ahead of Sunday’s clash, 'Well, we've won six straight matches at EURO 2024. We want that to become seven.' Meanwhile, Álvaro Morata provided some relief by confirming his fitness following an injury scare after a security official accidentally collided with his knee during the post-match celebrations against France.

The 31-year-old captain will head Spain's attack alongside Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams in a 4-3-3 formation. Coach Luis de la Fuente will be pleased to have Robin Le Normand and Dani Carvajal available again, as they return from suspension after missing the semi-final win over France.

England

Once again, England needed a get-out-of-jail card to reach the finals after a comeback 2-1 win over the Netherlands. A generously awarded penalty kick helped the Three Lions to the leveller before Ollie Watkins came off the bench to score the winner in the final minute of regular time.

After coming agonisingly close to a maiden European Championship title last time out, the win saw England reach successive Euro finals. On Sunday, they will be looking to end the fairy tale run with their first major trophy since 1966.

Having picked up a 3-2 win over Spain in the UEFA Nations League in October 2018, victory on Sunday would not only hand England their maiden European Championship title but also leave the Three Lions with successive wins over La Roja. This would be the first time since a seven-game winning run between 1960 and 1980.

In another subplot, Harry Kane, who is expected to lead England’s attack in the 3—4—2—1 formation, is in a neck-to-neck race with Dani Olmo for the European Championship golden boot, with both tied on three goals each. Phil Foden and Jude Bellingham could form the duo behind Harry Kane, while Kieran Trippier, who came off at the break against the Netherlands, is in doubt for the final.
