Euro 2024: Denmark seeking maiden win against England.

As Denmark seeks its first win at Euro 2024, they prepare to clash with an England side buoyed by a narrow victory over Serbia in an intriguing showdown at Deutsche Bank Park.

Denmark

Christian Eriksen’s 17th-minute goal could not secure a victory for Denmark against Slovenia, resulting in a 1-1 draw at the MHPArena. A late equalizer from Erik Janža in the 77th minute ensured both sides shared the spoils.

The Red and Whites, with a form of [DWWWD], are in second place in Group C as they prepare to face England. This match will be the fourth encounter between the two sides, although Denmark has previously met the Three Lions three times on European Championship soil and once during the FIFA World Cup.

Denmark is eager to claim their first win at the tournament and end a three-game winless streak against England on Match Day 2. Notably, only five goals have been scored between the teams in the last four meetings, with England scoring three of those.

Expect Højlund and Jonas Wind to lead the attack when Kasper Hjulmand sets up their side in a 3—4—1—2 formation.

England

It was a game of two halves for England, who secured a narrow 1-0 win over Serbia thanks to a fabulous header from Jude Bellingham in the 13th minute. Late in the second half, Serbia looked increasingly likely to score after bringing on substitutes Dusan Tadic and AC Milan's Luka Jovic.

“We defended very well as a unit. Our team ran out of energy, and that didn't surprise me due to the lack of 90 minutes our players have had," Gareth Southgate commented after the win. A solid record against the Danes should leave Southgate confident of leading his side to victory this Thursday.

England, who have faced Denmark 22 times, have emerged victorious in 13 of those meetings (13W, 5D, 4L). A win here would not only secure passage to the next round but also grant the Three Lions consecutive victories on European championship soil for the first time in the tournament’s history.

While Phil Foden didn't look particularly threatening, he is expected to retain his place in midfield alongside Saka, who contributed to England’s goal. Jude Bellingham, who left the pitch with the MVP award after an outstanding performance, is expected to play just behind Harry Kane in Southgate's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.

Luke Shaw is England's only confirmed absentee ahead of Thursday’s clash.
