OGC Nice hoping to end two-game winless run in Lorient clash.
OGC Nice will aim to end their winless run and solidify their position in Ligue 1 as they host relegation-threatened Lorient at Allianz Riviera on Friday night.
Nice
Les Aiglons are without a win in two games following last weekend’s goalless draw with Reims. Nice were unable to get past Reims despite taking 18 shots with 3 on target at Stade Auguste-Delaune II.
They remained in 5th place on the Ligue 1 table, having only one win in five games [LLWLD]. Nice, who finished in 9th place last season, have 44 points [12W, 8D, 8L] and are only five points outside the top four.
With 6th-placed Lens just one point adrift of Nice, failure to pick up a weekend win could see the home side forfeit their place for Lens, who face relegation-threatened Clermont Foot. Nice have lost just two of their 18 home games against Lorient in all competitions [11W, 5D, 2L].
An additional home win on Friday will see them put an end to a four-game winless streak in Ligue 1 against the visitors [0W, 2D, 2L]. However, Nice have won just two Ligue 1 matches in the current calendar year [2W, 3D, 6L], with no team winning fewer games in the top-flight this year.
Francesco Farioli would like to see the abysmal run of form take a turn for the better when he lays out the 4-3-3 formation with Terem Moffi, Mohamed-Ali Cho, and Jeremie Boga in attack.
Lorient
Lorient are on a longer winless streak, having failed to find a victory in four games [WLDLL]. They lost 2-0 to Montpellier last time out, a defeat that leaves them in the relegation playoff spot.
Currently in 16th place with 26 points [6W, 8D, & 14L], Lorient have as many points as 17th-placed FC Metz. This points tally is their second lowest at this stage of the season, behind only their 2016–17 campaign.
Ending the four-game winless streak will be the main objective on Friday. However, Lorient are the opponents against whom OGCN have played the most home games, scoring at least one goal in each encounter.
Lorient will be keen to keep a shutout against the home side and are likely to appear in a 3-4-2-1 formation with Mohamed Bamba in attack. Régis Le Bris will be without as many as four players, including Igor Silva and Bonke Innocent.
