Serge Gnabry ruled out as two-game losing Bayern face Koln.
After a contentious draw against Arsenal in the Champions League, Bayern Munich returns to Allianz Arena this Saturday at 14:30 [GMT+1] looking to break their two-game Bundesliga losing streak against relegation-threatened FC Koln.
FC Bayern München
Bayern Munich are back on German soil following a controversial 2-2 draw with the Gunners in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final clash. The topsy-turvy midweek encounter saw Bayern take the lead after going down inside the opening twelve minutes.
"I think the referee did not have the courage today to give a deserved penalty in a bit of a crazy and awkward situation," said Tuchel, referring to the much-talked-about goal-kick incident.
Back in the Bundesliga, Bayern remain in 2nd place following back-to-back defeats, which leaves them 16 points adrift of league leaders Leverkusen, having accumulated 60 points. After last weekend’s 3-2 loss to Bundesliga debutants Heidenheim, Bayern have now recorded their highest number of losses in a full season in 12 years.
On Saturday, they will be looking to put an end to the unfamiliar two-game winless streak, having remained unbeaten against FC Köln in 19 Bundesliga matches. However, Bayern have not kept a clean sheet in any of their last 10 Bundesliga games.
Thomas Tuchel will line up a 4-2-3-1 with Harry Kane in attack once again. Serge Gnabry, who scored Bayern’s first goal in the midweek UCL game against Arsenal, is ruled out for this weekend’s encounter, having picked up a hamstring injury expected to keep him out until mid-May.
FC Köln
FC Koln [LDLDW] ended a run of seven Bundesliga matches without a win [0W, 4D, 3L] last weekend after a 2-1 home victory over VfL Bochum. The Billy Goats sit in 17th place with 22 points [4W, 10D, & 14L] and are four points shy of safety going into the weekend’s game against Bayern Munich.
Escaping relegation remains the only objective for the visitors, who finished much higher up on the table in 11th place last season. They will be looking to pick up unlikely back-to-back Bundesliga victories this weekend when they visit the Allianz Arena.
However, Die Geißböcke have only won one of their last 15 away league games [1W, 8D, 6L]. They remain winless in seven such games [0W, 5D, 2L], with five draws in a row.
Timo Schultz will be without as many as four players due to varying forms of injuries, while Eric Martel is suspended following an accumulation of yellow cards.
