The Czech Republic faces Turkey in Day 3 clash for last 16 place.

As Czechia battles Turkey at 20:00 [GMT+1] on June 26 at Volksparkstadion in a bid to seize the final qualifying spot in Group F, tension mounts with Czechia's Patrik Schick eager to break their losing streak against the Turks and Turkey needing just a draw to advance.

Czechia came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw with Georgia on Match Day 2, leaving them third in Group F with one point and a goal difference of -1. Ivan Hašek's side dominated the game with 62 percent possession, 26 shots, and 12 shots on target. However, an unfortunate handball by Robin Hranac just before the break allowed Georges Mikautadze to put Georgia ahead from the spot in stoppage time. Patrik Schick later equalized in the 59th minute to secure a point for Czechia.

"We dominated the game but failed to score the second goal. Twenty-six attempts speak for themselves," Hašek remarked. With Portugal already through to the next round, only one qualifying spot remains in Group F. Czechia, currently with zero wins, one draw, and one loss, can finish as group runners-up if they defeat Turkey and Georgia fails to beat Portugal.

The Czechs face a tough challenge, having lost their last three games against their upcoming opposition across all competitions. Moreover, they have won just four of their last 15 competitive matches. If they fail to win against Turkey, it will be their second time not winning a group game at the Euros, the first being in 2016.

"We have to go to the match with the same mindset as the first two," said Czechia midfielder Lukáš Provod. He added, "If we keep playing the same style as against Georgia, I believe we will score goals and win." Patrik Schick is expected to lead the attack once again as Hašek sets up in a 3-4-2-1 formation.

Turkey

Türkiye were swept aside in a 3-0 loss to Portugal on Match Day 2, with goals from Bernardo Silva [21'] and Bruno Fernandes [56'] sandwiching an own goal by Samet Akaydin [28’ O.G.]. Despite the defeat, the Crescent-Stars remained second in Group F with three points from two matches [1W, 0D, 1L].

Türkiye have won only once in their last five matches across all competitions [LDLWL]. However, a point in Wednesday's match against Czechia will be enough for Vincenzo Montella's side to reach the last 16.

Turkey have won their two previous matches against the Czech Republic at the Euros [2008 and 2016]. ‘A draw is enough for us against Czechia, but we would like to win,’ captain Hakan Çalhanoğlu said ahead of Wednesday's clash.

Barış Alper Yılmaz, who is yet to break his Euro 2024 drought, is expected to lead the attack once again in the familiar 4—2—3—1 formation.
