Inter Milan take on BSC Young Boys in UCL after Roma win.

As Young Boys aim to revive their UEFA Champions League campaign under interim coach Joël Magnin, they face the formidable task of overcoming Inter Milan, whose defensive prowess and recent winning streak make them dangerous opponents at Stadion Wankdorf.

Young Boys

Young Boys have had a disappointing season so far, leading to manager Patrick Rahmen's dismissal on October 8. Under-21's team coach Joël Magnin has stepped in as interim manager.

The reigning Swiss champions currently sit 10th out of 12 teams in the Super League. They are also one of eight teams that have lost their opening two matches in the UEFA Champions League.

In those Champions League matches, the Bern-based side has failed to score while conceding eight goals. A 3-0 loss to Aston Villa and a 5-0 defeat to Barcelona have left them at the bottom of the revamped UCL table.

However, Young Boys ended a run of three consecutive defeats across all competitions with a 2-1 win over Luzern in the Swiss league on Saturday. They aim to replicate this performance in the UCL against Inter Milan at home on Wednesday.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides. Notably, Young Boys have never lost a UCL match at home to an Italian team, securing a 2-1 win over Juventus in 2018 and a 3-3 draw with Atalanta in 2021.

Yet, a defeat on Wednesday would see Young Boys lose four consecutive games in Europe's premier competition for the first time in their history. Magnin, who started his tenure with a victory, could retain the 4—1—2—1—2 formation, featuring Cedric Itten and Meschak Elia in attack.

Inter

After a goalless draw with Manchester City on Match Day 1, Inter Milan got back to winning ways with a 4-0 win over FK Crvena Zvezda on Match Day 2. The Italian champions are heading into Wednesday's clash on the back of four straight wins across all competitions, including a 1-0 victory over AS Roma on Sunday in Serie A.

However, Simone Inzaghi's side are without a win from their last three UCL games on the road, a drought they will be confident of ending at Stadion Wankdorf. Inter's defensive solidity under Inzaghi has been particularly admirable, with the Nerazzurri keeping more clean sheets than anyone else in the UCL since the 48-year-old took charge, including four in their last five outings.

Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez are expected in attack when Inzaghi deploys the 3—5—2.
