Relegation-threatened Luton in Premier League survival trip to West Ham.

After a humiliating defeat to Chelsea, West Ham urgently seeks redemption against a desperate Luton Town, both aiming to break their respective winless streaks in a crucial clash at the London Stadium.

West Ham United

West Ham remained in 9th place after last weekend’s embarrassing 5-0 loss to Chelsea, a defeat that left the Hammers without a win in four games [WLLDL]. The home side has 49 points [13W, 10D, & 13L] ahead of their date with relegation-threatened Luton.

They trail both 7th-placed Chelsea and 8th-placed Manchester United, who share 54 points and have played one game less than the Hammers. While finishing in 7th place remains mathematically possible, it is highly unlikely given West Ham's current form.

West Ham will be looking to complete their first league double over Luton since the 1983-84 season, following a 2-1 win at Kenilworth Road earlier this season. Additionally, the Hammers are unbeaten in their last 10 Premier League games against promoted sides [8W, 2D, 0L], a run they hope to extend on Saturday.

Recent reports suggest Julen Lopetegui will replace David Moyes at the end of the season, with a verbal agreement said to have been reached. Meanwhile, West Ham will be visiting Florida for the first time for a two-match ‘Sunshine State Tour’ this summer and will likely appear in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Michail Antonio in attack.

Manchester City loanee Kalvin Phillips is ruled out of the weekend’s clash.

Luton Town

Luton still have a fighting chance to secure their threatened Premier League status despite being without a win in four games. Last weekend, the Hatters [WLLLD] put an end to a three-game losing run after a 1-1 draw with Everton, thanks to a well-taken leveler from Elijah Adebayo [31'], who only recently returned from a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Hatters are in 18th place on the Premier League table, with 26 points [6W, 8D, & 22L], three points shy of safety. Having last tasted victory on April 6 against Bournemouth [2-1], the visitors will be eager to put an end to the four-game winless streak when they make the trip to the capital on Saturday.

However, Luton are winless in their last five away league games against West Ham [0W, 3D, 2L]. A 3—4—2—1 with last weekend’s hero Elijah Adebayo in attack is anticipated for this weekend’s fixture against West Ham.

As many as seven players, including Chiedozie Ogbene, are ruled out for Luton’s penultimate game.
