Liverpool take on West Ham after defeat in Wednesday's Merseyside derby.

West Ham aim to end their two-game losing streak as they clash with title-chasing Liverpool at the London Stadium this Saturday.

West Ham United

West Ham, who did not participate in the midweek round of Premier League action, are coming off consecutive league defeats, including an embarrassing 5-2 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend. Fortunately for the Hammers, 9th-placed Chelsea also ended up with an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Arsenal on Tuesday, allowing West Ham to keep 8th place.

With 48 points (13W, 9D, & 12L), they saw the gap to Newcastle (50 points) remain at two points after the Magpies suffered a 2-0 loss to Palace on Wednesday. The hosts, who have lost 12 of their last 14 Premier League games against Liverpool, will be looking to end their two-game losing streak on Saturday.

Despite securing just one win in their last eight Premier League home games (1W, 5D, 2L), West Ham are aware they could lose consecutive home league games for the first time since November-December 2022, following their recent loss to Fulham. David Moyes was again in the spotlight after the weekend defeat, with reports suggesting West Ham are in talks with Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim over a possible replacement.

On Saturday, Moyes aims to silence critics with an expected 4-2-3-1 formation, featuring Michail Antonio in attack. The Hammers will be eager to bounce back and turn their recent misfortunes around.

Liverpool

Liverpool were stunned in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night, following a 2-0 loss to city rivals Everton. The crushing defeat was a huge blow to Liverpool’s title hopes, with table-topping Arsenal now three points clear.

Fellow title rivals Manchester City are only one point adrift of Liverpool, while having one game in hand. They also have an upcoming clash against Brighton.

"We need a crisis at Manchester City and Arsenal and need to win football games because if they start now losing all the games and we do what we did tonight, nothing changed," Klopp said following Wednesday’s defeat.

The Reds are in 2nd place with 74 points and will be looking to add one more win to their tally. Under Jürgen Klopp, Liverpool have won more Premier League games against Crystal Palace and West Ham than any other teams.

Victory here would leave Liverpool with three wins in a row against the Hammers, having already beaten them 3-1 in the Premier League and 5-1 in the League Cup.

Darwin Núñez, whose first touch let Liverpool down against Everton, is expected to keep his place alongside Luis Díaz and Salah in the famous 4-3-3 formation.
