Everton in preparation for London trip as West Ham clash looms.

West Ham and Everton face off at the London Stadium with both clubs eager to bounce back from recent setbacks, as the Hammers aim for a third consecutive home win while the Toffees strive to end their poor run against London teams.

West Ham United

An embarrassing 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest left West Ham alternating between a win and a loss in their last four Premier League games, [DWLWL]. Red-hot Chris Wood bagged his sixth goal in as many games, moments before Edson Álvarez was sent off for West Ham in stoppage time of the first half.

With a numerical deficit for the entire second half, the Hammers were unable to keep Forest at bay, conceding twice more in the 65th and 78th minutes to goals from Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ola Aina, respectively. The loss means West Ham have won just one of their seven Premier League away games against Nottingham Forest [1W, 3D, 3L].

Meanwhile, West Ham have dropped into 14th place with 11 points [3W, 2D, 5L] following the defeat. As Everton prepare to visit the capital, manager Julen Lopetegui, who is under pressure, might be optimistic since West Ham have managed to bounce back with a victory twice after recent losses.

A win at home would secure West Ham three successive home victories for the first time since August 2023. A 4—2—3—1 formation with Michail Antonio leading the attack is expected. However, Mohammed Kudus remains suspended, along with Edson Álvarez, due to his recent red card. Niclas Füllkrug is doubtful for Saturday’s tea-time encounter.

Everton

Everton [WDWDL] were left without a win in two Premier League games after last weekend’s narrow 1-0 loss to newly promoted Southampton. The Toffees were on the verge of securing a goalless draw, but Adam Armstrong broke the deadlock with five minutes remaining.

Currently sitting four points above the relegation zone in 16th place, Sean Dyche aims to distance his side from the bottom three during their trip to the capital on Saturday. However, Everton's recent struggles against London-based teams continue, having suffered three straight away defeats against such sides with a combined score of 12-1.

This unfortunate run puts them on the brink of losing four matches in the capital for the first time since the period between January and September 2018. Reflecting on their last defeat, Dyche noted, ‘We made enough chances away from home to win a game.’

As preparations unfold at Finch Farm for their upcoming clash against the Hammers, Everton is expected to employ a 4—2—3—1 formation with Dominic Calvert-Lewin leading the attack. Dyche will be hoping for a different result this time around.
