Relegation-threatened Udinese face three-game winless Napoli.

Desperate to break a seven-game winless streak and climb out of the relegation zone, Udinese face a daunting challenge against Napoli in a crucial Monday night Serie A clash at Stadio Friuli.

Udinese

Relegation-threatened Udinese are two points shy of safety as they head into Monday’s clash with Napoli. The Little Zebras have picked up only two points from their last five Serie A games [DLLLD], while in 18th place with 29 points [4W, 17D, & 13L], following last weekend’s 1-1 draw with ten-man Bologna.

With four games left to play, Le Zebrette, who finished in 12th place last term, will be looking to put an end to a seven-game winless streak when they take on Napoli in this episode of Monday night Serie A football. However, Udinese, who have a goal ratio of 0.94 [GPG], having scored 32 goals in 34 Serie A games, are not only winless in 15 games against Napoli but have only picked up two points against the visitors in that many games [0W, 2D, 13L].

"We have to look at home and make the points we lack; otherwise, it's difficult. Everyone knows that I am Neapolitan, and playing against Napoli is something very emotional, but we have an important objective like Udinese, and emotions are left aside," recently appointed manager Cannavaro, who graduated from Napoli’s youth ranks, said in a pre-match press conference.

The 50-year-old, who remains without a win since his appointment [0W, 1D, 1L], is expected to appear with a 3—4—2—1 having Lorenzo Lucca in attack. Martín Payero and Nehuén Pérez are both suspended for Monday’s game.

Napoli

Napoli, currently 9th in the table, are on a three-game winless streak in Serie A [LWDLD]. This leaves the Blues with 50 points [13W, 11D, & 10L] ahead of Monday’s trip to Udinese.

The Partenopei have a strong record against Udinese with five wins in their last seven Serie A away games. However, they have only managed four wins out of eight league matches this season against teams in the relegation zone [4W, 2D, 2L]. They are eager to add another victory to their tally on Monday.

Rumors are swirling that Francesco Calzona, who has a 30% winning record with the Blues, will be replaced at the end of the season. Milan’s Stefano Pioli is a leading candidate for the role, with a verbal agreement supposedly reached.

A 4-3-3 formation featuring Matteo Politano, Osimhen, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in attack is expected. However, Kvaratskhelia is a doubt due to a thigh injury sustained in Friday’s training. If he is unable to play, either Jesper Lindstrom or Giacomo Raspadori could step in.
