Marseille hoping to bounce back in Toulouse trip.

As Toulouse FC looks to break their winless streak against Olympique de Marseille, Saturday's 20:00 kick-off at Stadium de Toulouse promises a high-stakes battle between resilience and a potent attack.

Toulouse

Despite being without a win, Toulouse remained unbeaten after the opening two Ligue 1 matches, following a 1-1 draw away at Nice on Match Day 2 [0W, 2D, 0L]. The game against Nice was at risk of being postponed due to the state of the pitch but went ahead after it was cleared by the officials.

After a goalless first half, Jonathan Clauss [53'] put Nice ahead. However, Shavy Babicka [73'] ensured Le Téfécé picked up a point twenty minutes later following a leveller. Manager Carles Martínez Novell described the result as ‘a good point,’ with his side now having two points while in 11th place after two matches.

The hosts are also one of the eight teams yet to taste defeat in the new campaign and the only such side in the bottom half. A maiden win is the primary objective on Saturday, although Toulouse are winless in their last 20 games against the visitors [0W, 8D, 12L].

Given their dismal record against Marseille, Le Téfécé are at risk of starting a season without winning any of their opening three matches for the first time since 2013-14, when they failed to find a win in four opening games. Martínez Novell is expected to deploy a 3—4—2—1 with Frank Magri in attack for Saturday's clash with Marseille.

Toulouse have no injury worries ahead of the weekend.

Olympique Marseille

Marseille failed to replicate their excellent opening day performance against Brest, as they had to come from behind to salvage a 2-2 draw with Reims in their first home game of the season.

OM led at the break thanks to Amine Harit's goal in the 25th minute, but Reims fought back, bagging goals from Sergio Akieme in the 51st minute and Yaya Fofana in the 55th.

However, Mason Greenwood salvaged a point for OM with a late header in the 71st minute, taking his tally to three goals in two matches.

'I'm disappointed and annoyed. I'm sorry, I would have liked to have won this first game at the Velodrome,' Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi said after the draw.

Les Phocéens will hope to return as happy travellers after their trip to Toulouse on Saturday. With seven goals scored in just two games, De Zerbi hopes his potent attack can surpass the club's record of nine goals in the opening three matches, achieved in 2008/09.

A 4-2-3-1 formation with Elye Wahi in attack is expected for this clash.
