Tottenham, Arsenal gearing up for North London derby.

The North London Derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal promises an intense clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, as both sides aim to reclaim form and break recent trends in a thrilling Sunday showdown.

Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will be returning to Premier League action with Sunday’s highly anticipated North London derby against fierce city rivals Arsenal. A 2-1 loss to Newcastle United just before the break handed Spurs their first defeat of the season while sending them tumbling to 10th place on the Premier League table ahead of Match Week 4.

While bouncing back to winning ways remains the objective when they host Arsenal this weekend, a torrid run of form against the visitors could cast a shadow of doubt on hopes of picking up three points. Tottenham have lost five of their last seven Premier League meetings.

Oddly, Spurs have conceded an own goal in the last three Premier League meetings against Arsenal. On Sunday, Ange Postecoglou will be hoping the three-game own-goal jinx will come to an end as he looks to steer Spurs to a second win.

‘Every derby is a bit different. You can tell it's fairly intense between the two clubs,’ Postecoglou said in a pre-match press conference. ‘But what's important to us is that we have to go out there and perform, play our football, play well, because irrespective of the rivalry, they're a top side, and you need to do that,’ he added.

A 4-2-3-1 formation with Son Heung-min in attack is expected. Dominic Solanke and Richarlison are both in doubt for this London derby.

Arsenal

Ten-man Arsenal were only able to earn a point just before the international break in a fixture that ended in a 1-1 draw against Brighton. The Gunners were in pole position to take all three points after taking the lead via a mouth-watering goal from Kai Havertz in the 38th minute. However, a Declan Rice red card in the 49th minute swung the momentum until none other than João Pedro restored parity for the Seagulls in the 59th minute.

Mikel Arteta, who recently signed a contract extension with Arsenal, will be eager to see his team bag a weekend win over Spurs. With back-to-back away wins over the hosts, Arsenal remains on the verge of picking up three successive away victories over the Lilywhites.

Martin Ødegaard suffered an ankle injury for Norway during the international break, but Arteta expects the 25-year-old to be fit enough for Sunday’s clash. Arteta, who will be without Declan Rice following his red card, plans to lay out the 4-2-3-1 with Kai Havertz in attack. "Let’s see what happens in the next day or so," Arteta said.
