Roma vs Torino
Under fire Jurić back with three-game winless Roma in Torino clash.
Amidst dressing room turmoil and managerial uncertainty, AS Roma face a pivotal clash against Torino at the Stadio Olimpico, as both sides seek redemption and crucial points in their Serie A campaign.
Roma
Roma were stunned in a 5-1 loss to Fiorentina at the weekend, as they went down to ten men in the 65th minute. "We did everything wrong tonight. Before today, we'd been very focused for seven matches and produced good performances. Tonight, we got everything wrong," Ivan Jurić said in a post-match interview with DAZN.
The embarrassing defeat has since opened a can of worms, with reports of a verbal and physical altercation in the dressing room between the recently appointed manager and Gianluca Mancini making rounds in the media. With the recent slump in form, Jurić, who was reported to have thrown a bottle at Mancini, could be on the verge of receiving the axe. "It's up to others to decide. We have to work. I still think we've done a lot of good things in these 40 days. I didn't expect this today," Jurić said after he was questioned over his position.
Thursday’s game against Torino could be the only chance left to show the top hierarchy all is under control. Luckily, Roma, who are 12th with 10 points, are in great form against their midweek opponents, remaining unbeaten in their last six Serie A matches against Torino. A fine run of home form against the visitors also leaves Roma with 12 victories in their last 14 home games against Torino in Serie A.
Artem Dovbyk is expected to remain in attack when Roma takes the shape of a 3—5—1—1 against Torino. Mario Hermoso is suspended, having received a red card against Fiorentina.
Torino
Torino finally ended their three-game losing streak with a narrow win at the weekend, defeating newly promoted Como. Alieu Njie scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute.
With this victory, Il Toro climbed to 9th place in the table with 14 points, comprising four wins, two draws, and three losses. They are currently three places above their upcoming hosts, aiming to close the gap to just one point.
However, Torino's recent form on the road has been concerning. After an unbeaten start in their first three away matches this season, they have now lost their last two away games. Torino risks a third consecutive away defeat in Serie A for the first time since their rough patch in September and October 2022.
The team is expected to line up in a 3-5-2 formation, featuring Akor Adams and Sanabria in attack. Unfortunately, Duván Zapata is out for the rest of the season, along with five others who will miss the midweek clash.
