Inter Milan eye three wins in a row in clash against Roma.

AS Roma aim to reignite their winning form and overcome a challenging historical record as they host Serie A champions Inter Milan at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

Roma

Roma will make their return from the international break with a challenging fixture against Serie A champions Inter Milan. The hosts went into the break with a 1-1 draw against Monza, marking their third draw in the last five league matches [DDWWD].

This performance was sufficient to keep Roma in 9th place with 10 points [2W, 4D, 1L]. However, with an upcoming home game against Inter, Roma risk remaining winless in two consecutive games.

Roma have lost their last three home Serie A games against Inter. Since 2021, Roma have been defeated in six of their eight Serie A matches against Inter [1W, 1D, 6L].

Despite these challenges, the Giallorossi could rely on their solid goal-scoring form at home when facing the visitors. They have scored in each of their last 24 home Serie A games.

Ivan Jurić's side is close to achieving a longer scoring streak in home matches for the first time since the period between December 2015 and September 2017 [34]. "We just lacked the finishing touch," Jurić remarked, criticizing his side's inability to find the final piece of play against Monza.

The recently appointed manager will be hoping to see Roma capitalize on their opportunities against Inter, deploying the 3—4—2—1 formation with Artem Dovbyk in attack. After a fantastic goal against Monza, Dovbyk will be looking to score again against Inter.

Inter

Meanwhile, Inter will be looking to put Roma aside before their midweek fixture with Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League. A Marcus Thuram hattrick helped Inter to a 3-2 win over ten-man Torino just before the international break, securing their third win in five Serie A games.

Having 14 points (4W, 2D, 1L), the visitors are two points adrift of table-topping Napoli (16 points), hoping to move to the top of the table. This Sunday’s clash against Roma offers the current champions an opportunity to extend their winning run to three games in a row (WDLWW).

Interestingly, Inter is the team against which Roma have scored the most goals (232) in Serie A. A 3-5-2 formation with hattrick hero Marcus Thuram and Lautaro Martínez in attack is expected.

Piotr Zielinski picked up an injury while on international duty with Poland and will be out for a couple of weeks. In a potential injury boost, Nicolò Barella is expected to be back from the start after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
