PSG make Ligue 1 return against Reims after UCL win.

Reims aim to extend their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 as they host league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who look to maintain their perfect start to the season in a thrilling Saturday night clash at Stade Auguste-Delaune II.

Reims

Reims began their season on a poor note, losing against Lille at home in their opening game. However, the Red and Whites have since picked things up, first settling for a 2-2 draw before 2-1 wins over Rennes and Nantes in their last two matches.

Luka Elsner's side are in sixth place with seven points [2W, 1D, & 1L] heading into their game against table-topping PSG. The Red and Whites are looking to become the first team to take points off the reigning champions this season, but Elsner does not want this to be his team's primary objective.

"Being the first to take points against PSG? We are mainly attached to ourselves and our performances,” he said. “We are on two victories, and we would like to continue this dynamic, at least by delivering a great match," he added.

Reims have won four of their last six league games [4W, 1D, 1L] and three of their last four home games [3W, 0D, 1L]. However, they have gone eight straight games without a win against Les Parisiens in Ligue 1 [0W, 3D, 5L].

A 4-3-3 formation with Oumar Diakité, Yaya Fofana, and Junya Ito in attack is expected for this clash. Amadou Koné is suspended after receiving a four-match ban for the challenge on Lille’s Angel Gomes, which saw the England youth international hospitalised after he was stretchered off.

Paris Saint Germain

PSG were in action during the week as they began their 2024-25 UEFA Champions League campaign against Girona. The Parisians won 1-0, thanks to a 90th-minute own goal from Girona's goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

"Today we showed that we're a team of warriors," said Luis Enrique, who had lots of praise for his team after the UCL win. The victory saw his side maintain their 100% record across all competitions, which includes four wins from as many Ligue 1 matches.

In their last league outing, PSG picked up a 3-1 win over Brest, leaving them top of the table with 12 points. They are two points ahead of Marseille and Monaco, who occupy second and third place, respectively.

PSG will return on the road this weekend to take on Reims while looking to extend their 26-match unbeaten streak in Ligue 1, which is the longest such run in the history of the French top flight. A win on Saturday will see PSG pick up 15 points from their first five Ligue 1 games for the fourth time in the 21st century.

A 4—3—3 formation with Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Bradley Barcola in attack is expected.
