Real Valladolid hoping to end five-match winless run in Mallorca clash.

As Valladolid seek to end their five-match winless streak, they will host a resilient Mallorca side aiming for their third consecutive victory in Friday night's showdown at Estadio José Zorrilla.

Real Valladolid

Valladolid are coming off the back of a 2-1 defeat to Sevilla. David Torres' own goal just before the break put Valladolid behind, but parity was restored by Kike Perez four minutes before the hour mark. However, Chidera Ejuke found the net for Sevilla with five minutes left to play, leaving Paulo Pezzolano's side with a fourth defeat in seven league games.

‘We are leaving hurt because we were convinced that we could take the result,’ Pezzolano said in the press conference after the match. The Albivioletas are without a win in five games and currently sit in 18th place with five points. They hope to end this streak when they face Mallorca on home soil this Friday.

However, the newly promoted side have teething problems that manager Pezzolano must sort out if they are to return to winning ways. Valladolid have the worst defensive record in La Liga, having conceded 15 goals, and they also have the joint-worst attack alongside Getafe, having only scored three times.

Historically, the home side has dominated this fixture, winning 13 of the 21 home games against Mallorca in La Liga. They will be hoping to do so once again with a 4-3-3 formation featuring Darwin Machis, Marcos André, and Amath Ndiaye in attack.

Mallorca

Mallorca have made a fine start to this La Liga campaign, which has left them in 5th place with 11 points from seven matches [3W, 2D, & 2L]. Los Piratas [DWLWW] came from behind to pick up an impressive 2-1 win away at Real Betis in their last match, thanks to a late winner from Valery Fernández [93'].

‘It's a victory at a very difficult ground and against a great opponent,’ Jagoba Arrasate said after the win over Betis. ‘I think today is a great day because it's not easy to win on these pitches,’ he added.

Mallorca's fine start has been driven by their defensive solidity, with the visitors conceding only five goals so far, leaving them as joint-second for least goals conceded alongside Barcelona and Real Madrid. Arrasate will be hoping their defensive record comes into play on Friday as they look to extend their winning run to three games in a row when they make the trip to Valladolid.

A 4-2-3-1 formation with Cyle Larin in attack is expected.
