Madrid presented with La Liga trophy ahead of midweek clash.

After clinching their 36th league title with an eight-game winning run, Real Madrid host Alaves at the Santiago Bernabéu, aiming to extend their streak and sharpen their form ahead of the Champions League final.

Real Madrid

Madrid picked up a resounding 4-0 win over Granada to extend their winning run to eight games. A brace from Brahim Díaz (49' & 58'), following goals from Arda Güler (45'+2) and Fran García (38'), helped Madrid extend their 28-game unbeaten run to 29 (23W, 6D, 0L).

With their 36th domestic league title already secured, Madrid (WWWWW) now have 90 points (28W, 6D, 1L). They have little to play for in the league, other than extending their winning run ahead of the UEFA Champions League final against Dortmund on June 1 at Wembley.

On Sunday, Madrid celebrated their 36th league title with a ceremony in the city. Thousands of fans were present as captain Nacho Fernández was presented with the trophy by Pedro Rocha, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation. "This will give us a lot of energy for the Champions League final. We're delighted to be able to share an important moment with all the fans," said Vinícius Júnior during the presentation.

Victory on Tuesday will secure a league double over the visitors, following a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture back in December 2023. A heavily rotated side featuring UCL hero Joselu, Arda Güler, and weekend hero Brahim Díaz will likely start in Ancelotti’s 4-3-3 formation. Aurelien Tchouameni (foot injury) is the only player on the treatment table.

Deportivo Alavés

Alaves [LWWWD] saw their three-game winning streak come to an end after a 2-2 draw against 2nd-place chasing Girona on Friday night, thanks to a brace from Jon Guridi [12’, 90’+9]. The visitors remained in 11th place with 42 points [11W, 9D, & 15L], hoping to return to winning ways to break into the upper half of the table following their promotion from the Segunda División via playoffs after finishing in 4th place.

An unlikely win over Madrid would see Alaves put an end to a four-game losing streak against the hosts. The last time they tasted victory against Madrid was in November 2020, with a narrow 2-1 win.

Manager Luis García Plaza is expected to keep the weekend’s 4—2—3—1 formation, with Kike García in attack. Notably, the visitors have no injury worries ahead of their trip to Madrid.
