Table-topping PSG take on Rennes in Friday's Ligue 1 opener.

After a tense draw keeping their unbeaten record intact, Paris Saint-Germain face Rennes at the Parc des Princes, eager to pull ahead in the Ligue 1 title race while their visitors aspire to break free from a streak of away defeats.

Paris Saint Germain

PSG saw their perfect start to the season come to an end with a 1-1 draw against Reims. Reims' early bravery paid off when Keito Nakamura scored to give them the lead in the first ten minutes.

Despite several missed opportunities, PSG managed to equalize thanks to Ousmane Dembélé, who came off the bench and scored from a difficult angle. The draw ensured PSG remained unbeaten in 27 away games, with 21 wins and 6 draws.

Although level on 13 points with Marseille and Monaco, PSG stayed at the top of the table due to a better goal difference. Friday’s clash offers a chance to distance themselves from the chasing duo.

PSG have won 58% of their Ligue 1 games against Rennes during the QSI era, but they have also dropped points twice since the start of last season. A win here would mark a three-game winning streak at home this season in Ligue 1.

Ousmane Dembélé, last weekend’s hero, is expected to start, teaming up with Randal Kolo Muani and Bradley Barcola in attack under Luis Enrique's 4-3-3 setup. Unfortunately, Marco Asensio will miss the match due to a muscle injury, along with two other sidelined players.

Rennes

Just like PSG, Friday's opponents Rennes also earned a point in a 1-1 draw against Lens. This result left Rennes in 8th place with 7 points. Friday's clash offers the visitors a chance to climb as high as 4th place temporarily.

While returning to winning ways remains the objective, Rennes could suffer three defeats away from home in a row for the first time since the 2005-06 season. They have already lost to Strasbourg and Reims on the road this season.

Rennes is expected to line up in a 3—4—2—1 formation, with Arnaud Kalimuendo leading the attack, following his penalty spot goal against Lens. New signing Jota is sidelined with a muscle injury, joining Carlos Andres Gomez on the list of unavailable players.
