Mbappe promises to help overturn one-goal deficit in PSG's UCL clash.
In a bid to overturn a narrow one-goal deficit from the first leg, PSG will host Borussia Dortmund in a high-stakes UEFA Champions League semi-final clash at Parc des Princes.
Paris Saint Germain
Having failed to feature in any form of domestic football at the weekend, PSG will head straight back into the second-leg semi-final UEFA Champions League clash against Dortmund following Wednesday’s 1-0 loss at Signal Iduna Park.
PSG weathered the storm, surviving a host of clear-cut chances from BVB, to concede only once after Niclas Füllkrug found the back of the net at the 36th minute. It was the first time in three encounters this season that PSG suffered a defeat to Dortmund, whom they shared Group F with.
The defeat leaves PSG without a win in two games across all competitions. Les Parisiens now return, hoping to overturn the one-goal deficit from the reverse fixture in a bid to reach Wembley for their second-ever European Cup/UEFA Champions League final.
This will be the eighth meeting between both sides on European soil and the fourth this season in the UCL. A 4-3-3 formation with Ousmane Dembélé, Randal Kolo Muani, and Kylian Mbappe, who rarely made an impact in the first leg, is expected in attack.
The Madrid-bound forward promises to get Les Parisiens over the line: "I will arrive for the match in a good mood, ready to defend my team’s colors and qualify us for the final," Mbappe said at the weekend. Lucas Hernández, who was forced off in the 42nd minute in the reverse fixture, will play no part in this game, having undergone knee surgery.
Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund swept Augsburg aside in what served as a litmus test ahead of Tuesday’s second-leg semi-final showdown with PSG. Despite deploying a near-unrecognizable side due to rotating his squad at the weekend, Edin Terzić steered his side to a 5-1 win. This victory left Dortmund with back-to-back wins across all competitions.
"When you have two such important games in the space of six days, it's about having both emotional and physical freshness on the pitch," Edin Terzić said after Saturday’s win.
On Tuesday, Dortmund will look to end a three-game winless away run against PSG, aiming for their third-ever European Cup/UEFA Champions League final. Following the impressive first-leg outing, Terzić is likely to stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation, featuring first-leg hero Niclas Füllkrug in attack.
Karim Adeyemi and Jadon Sancho, who both produced eye-catching performances against PSG last Wednesday, will join the German international in attack. Terzić will have no reason to alter his tactical approach after such a dominant display.
