Osasuna hoping to end five-game winless streak in Mallorca clash.

Osasuna will host Mallorca at El Sadar on Tuesday evening, with both sides looking to secure a crucial win to enhance their positions in the La Liga standings.

Osasuna

Osasuna were left without a win in five games [LLLLD] following the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Athletic Club after giving up a two-goal lead.

Goals from Raúl García [40’] and Rubén García Santos [47’] had Osasuna in the lead. However, moments later, Iñaki Williams [58’] struck to reduce Osasuna’s two-goal lead to one. A stoppage-time goal from Asier Villalibre [90’+6] transformed what could have been three points into just one.

"I think we were brave; we defended well, and the shame is that last action," Jagoba Arrasate said in regret. The home side, who finished in 7th place last term, are currently in 13th place on the La Liga table with 40 points [11W, 7D, & 17L].

Los Rojillos will be the first side to kick off the midweek round of fixtures when they host Mallorca on Tuesday, hoping to climb a few places up the table despite an upper-half finish looking highly unlikely. Mathematically safe from relegation, victory here would leave Osasuna with back-to-back home wins over Mallorca.

"It has to help us compete like this; if we compete like this, we will have options, and the first is on Tuesday," outgoing boss Arrasate said, commending his side's performance at the weekend. A 4—2—3—1 with Rubén García in attack is anticipated.

Jon Moncayola remains suspended following a red card in the 2-0 loss against Real Betis, while Ante Budimir, who failed to feature last time out, remains in doubt.

Mallorca

Mallorca moved two places up the table to 15th place with 35 points from 7 wins, 14 draws, and 14 losses following a 1-0 win over Las Palmas last time out. A goal from Giovanni González just before the half-hour mark helped the Pirates end a five-game winless run.

Mallorca are only six points above the bottom three going into Tuesday's game and are not yet mathematically safe from relegation with three games left to play. With a far higher goal difference compared to 18th-placed Cadiz, a win on Tuesday would guarantee another season in the top flight for Mallorca, who finished in 9th place last term.

A win would also leave Mallorca with a league double over Osasuna, having won 3-2 in the reverse fixture in December 2023. Javier Aguirre could opt for a 4-4-2 formation with Cyle Larin and Vedat Muriqi in attack.

The 65-year-old manager has a 35% win rate since taking charge at Mallorca, registering 33 wins, 26 draws, and 35 losses. Notably, there are no injury worries ahead of Tuesday’s clash.
