'We need to focus on ourselves,' Nuno says ahead of Chelsea clash.
In a crucial battle to seal their Premier League fate, the Tricky Trees of Nottingham Forest host a rejuvenated Chelsea at City Ground this Saturday at 17:30 GMT+1.
Nottingham Forest
Nottingham picked up their first win in five league games last weekend after a 3-1 victory over already-relegated Sheffield United. The win helped the Reds stay three points above the relegation zone, with only two games to spare.
Following an unsuccessful appeal over their four-point deduction for breaking the Premier League's financial rules, Nottingham is sitting in 17th place, seven points behind 16th-placed Brentford. The Tricky Trees, with 29 points, will prepare for the weekend’s encounter against a rejuvenated Chelsea, hoping to pick up an unlikely win.
Nottingham have only lost their final home league match in one of their six previous Premier League campaigns. Following a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge in the reverse fixture in September, Nottingham Forest could complete their first league double over Chelsea for the first time since the 1978-79 season. A win will secure Forest's Premier League status for another season if Luton and Burnley fail to beat West Ham and Tottenham, respectively, earlier on Saturday.
"We don’t have to get distracted on what happens in other stadiums. Just focus on ourselves. We are ready; we've prepared for the game at home," said Nuno, who is expected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation with Chris Wood in attack in a pre-match press conference.
Chelsea
Chelsea moved up to 7th place in the table after an emphatic 5-0 win over West Ham last weekend. Despite leapfrogging Manchester United, the Blues have 54 points (15W, 9D, 11L), the same as the Red Devils, having picked up back-to-back victories (WLDWW).
After an underwhelming season, Chelsea, who finished in 12th place last season, could now finish in European places. They are just two points behind 6th-placed Tottenham (56 points). Returning as happy travelers with three points in the bag could see them put a few points between themselves and Manchester United, who face a difficult game against title-chasing Arsenal on Super Sunday.
However, Chelsea have won just two of their last 10 away league games against Nottingham Forest (2W, 4D, 4L). Mauricio Pochettino is expected to field a 4-2-3-1 with Nicolas Jackson in attack and Cole Palmer, who was shortlisted for the Premier League’s 'Young Player of the Season' and 'Player of the Season' awards, right behind Jackson. The 22-year-old is the Premier League’s second-highest goal scorer with 21 goals, four goals behind City's Erling Haaland.
