Luton seeking miraculous 12-goal win to keep Premier League place.

Facing an almost certain demotion, Luton aim to put on a spirited performance against Fulham in their final Premier League match at Kenilworth Road this Sunday.

Luton Town

Luton would need more than just an ordinary win over Fulham on Sunday to keep their place in the Premier League next season. The Hatters slumped to a 3-1 defeat to West Ham last time out, leaving them with a near-certain demotion to the Championship.

They sit in 18th place on the Premier League table, having earned only a point in five games [LLLDL]. Luton, with 26 points [6W, 8D, & 23L], are three points adrift of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who have a far better goal difference [-19 to Luton's -31].

Barring a miraculous 12-goal swing, the Hatters would be looking to make their Premier League exit with a scarce victory when they face Fulham on Sunday. "We’ll try and win 12-0 and see what happens. But the bottom line is, we want to give a good account of ourselves and reward the fans for the support they’ve given us over the past 37 games," Rob Edwards said ahead of the season’s finale.

However, a six-game winless streak against the visitors [0W, 2D, 4L] could leave the hosts drained of the required confidence to pick up three points. A 3-4-2-1 formation with Elijah Adebayo in attack is anticipated for this weekend’s fixture against Fulham.

As many as ten players are ruled out of the weekend's game due to injuries.

Fulham

Fulham, currently in 14th place on the Premier League table, are without a win in four games [WLDDL] ahead of their final game of the season. The visitors have accumulated 44 points [12W, 8D, & 17L] and could still finish two places higher, with Crystal Palace and Wolves just two points ahead.

Following a win in the reverse fixture, Marco Silva's team could complete a league double over Luton for the first time since the 1953-54 season. However, the Cottagers are on a six-game winless streak [0W, 1D, 5L] on Match Day 38.

Marco Silva is expected to deploy the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation, with Rodrigo Muniz leading the attack. Issa Diop is suspended after receiving a red card in the 4-0 loss to Manchester City last weekend.

In other related news, right-back Tete will remain at the club until the end of June 2025, after Fulham exercised their option to extend the 28-year-old's contract.
