Lille back on domestic soil after Europa Conference League exit.

After a disappointing Europa Conference League exit, Lille aim to continue their winning streak in Ligue 1 as they face Strasbourg at Stade Pierre-Mauroy this Sunday.

LOSC Lille

Lille will be looking to put their disappointing exit from the Europa Conference League behind them after Thursday’s defeat via penalties to Aston Villa.

In Ligue 1, Lille remained in 4th place following their 3-1 victory over Olympique Marseille last time out. It was the club’s last league appearance, having not featured in any form of domestic action last weekend.

The away side is now looking to extend their winning streak to three Ligue 1 games. Lille have 49 points before Sunday’s clash with Strasbourg, a club whom they have lost to just once in their last 12 matches in Ligue 1.

However, that defeat came in the form of a 2-1 loss to Strasbourg in the reverse fixture back in December 2023. Lille, who have scored 42 goals in 28 Ligue 1 games this season, have a goal ratio of 1.5 goals per game and have scored in each of their last 22 home games in Ligue 1, currently the second-longest streak in Europe's top five leagues.

They will be looking to extend their impressive goal-scoring home run on Sunday when they face Strasbourg. Les Dogues are expected to take the shape of a 4-3-3 with Jonathan David, Edon Zhegrova, and Rémy Cabella in attack. Nabil Bentaleb is on a yellow card suspension.

Strasbourg

Strasbourg are currently in 12th place and have extended their unbeaten run to four matches following a 3-1 win over ten-man Reims last weekend. Notably, ten of their 36 points this season have been acquired from these last four games.

Before this unbeaten streak, they had struggled, failing to win any of their first eight top-flight games in 2024. With a 10-point cushion above the bottom two, Strasbourg have little immediate worry about relegation.

However, moving further clear of the bottom three would be ideal to enhance their chances of not only staying in the top-flight next season but also aiming for a top-half finish. Since returning to Ligue 1 in the 2017/18 season, Les Racing have lost four of their six away games against Lille, highlighting a challenging fixture.

Patrick Vieira is likely to stick with the 3-4-2-1 formation, with Kevin Gameiro, who was on target for the club last time out, leading the attack.
