Liverpool keen to give outgoing Klopp befitting send-off against Wolves.

As Jurgen Klopp takes charge of Liverpool for the final time, the Reds aim to send him off with a triumphant home win against Wolves on Sunday at Anfield.

Liverpool

Having slipped out of the Premier League title race weeks ago, the Reds take on Wolves on the final day of the season. They hope to finish the campaign with a befitting home win for outgoing boss Jurgen Klopp.

"Some of those letters, I burst into tears reading about what the club has meant to some people,'" Klopp said ahead of his final game in the dugout for Liverpool. "The way we bought into it led to how happy we were. We have very special supporters, and the last nine years meant the world to them. I am very happy about that," he added.

The Reds are in 3rd place following the midweek 3-3 draw against 4th-placed Aston Villa. Liverpool currently have 79 points [23W, 10D, & 4L], nine points adrift of title-chasing Manchester City, who will be facing Arsenal on the final day for the grand prize of a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have won 13 of their last 14 Premier League meetings with Wolves, with the exception being a 3-0 loss at Molineux in February last season. However, having failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 10 Premier League games, the Reds could end up with another draw.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have the joint-highest number of draws in the top nine, along with West Ham [10]. A 4—3—3 formation with Salah, Gakpo, and Luis Díaz in attack is expected for this fixture. As many as three players, including Joël Matip, are ruled out.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves, who sit in 13th place with 46 points (13W, 7D, 17L), will remain keen to climb a few places up the table at the end of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool. Irrespective of the outcome of Sunday's season finale against the Reds, Wolves have had a better season compared to last term, where they finished in 13th place. This achievement is a significant boost for Gary O'Neil, who took over as manager in August 2023.

The Wanderers suffered back-to-back defeats after last weekend’s 3-1 loss to ten-man Crystal Palace and are only two points outside the top ten. A win on Sunday would be ideal, but they face an uphill battle, having lost eight of their last nine Premier League away games against Liverpool.

Furthermore, Wolves have lost eight and won just one of their nine Premier League games on matchday 38. A 3-4-2-1 formation with Matheus Cunha in attack is expected for this crucial encounter.
