Leicester City back in the Premier League clash against Spurs.

Recently promoted Leicester City will face off against Tottenham Hotspur in a thrilling Premier League opener at the King Power Stadium on Monday night.

Leicester City

EFL Championship champions Leicester City will make their return to the Premier League with Monday night’s clash against Tottenham on home soil. Following their promotion, former Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper will be saddled with the task of leading the Foxes into their new campaign.

Enzo Maresca, who oversaw the Foxes’ return to the top flight after leading them to the EFL Championship title, made the switch to Chelsea after the Blues came calling. His departure wasn't isolated, as Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also joined him at Stamford Bridge.

Nigerian forward Kelechi Iheanacho also made an exit, transferring to Sevilla on a free. However, veteran striker Jamie Vardy, who was instrumental with 18 goals in the championship, remains at the club.

A home game against Spurs on Match Day 1 could be a good omen for Leicester City, given their impressive unbeaten record when starting the season at home [6W, 3D, 0L]. Cooper is expected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation with Thomas Cannon in attack.

The Foxes could be without three key players, Jamie Vardy, Conor Coady, and Patson Daka, for Monday’s clash against Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham Hotspur

After a 5th-place finish last season, Spurs will be looking to challenge for a spot higher up the table this term. To boost their chances, they secured the signature of Dominic Solanke after €64.3 million switched accounts.

They also signed Archie Gray from Leeds for €41.25 million and Wilson Odobert from Burnley for €29.3 million. Spurs lost only twice, against Bayern Munich, on their pre-season tour, where they took part in six games, winning the other four.

On Monday night, they will be keen to replicate their pre-season form when they visit the King Power Stadium. Five wins in six opening-day games against promoted sides will leave Ange Postecoglou without worries about starting the campaign with a win. In addition, Spurs have only failed to score in one of their 17 Premier League games against Leicester City.

Postecoglou is expected to throw Dominic Solanke right into the deep end when the club makes its maiden appearance. The 26-year-old is expected to team up with Dejan Kulusevski and Son Heung-Min in attack in the familiar 4-3-3 formation.

Spurs could be without Richarlison and Fraser Forster, while Yves Bissouma is suspended for the opener after he was seen inhaling laughing gas last weekend.
