Leicester in search maiden win since return as Villa visits.

Leicester City, still hunting for their first Premier League win, host Aston Villa at King Power Stadium this Saturday at 15:00 [GMT+1], eager to capitalize on their recent EFL Cup triumph against Tranmere.

Leicester City

Leicester City are coming off the back of a 4-0 win over Tranmere in Tuesday’s midweek EFL Cup clash. This victory means the Foxes have a third-round EFL Cup fixture against Walsall on September 17.

"Beyond the performance and result, it was good for some people to get some needed minutes, so everyone’s in contention again," head coach Steve Cooper stated following the four-goal win.

Back in the Premier League, Leicester remained without a win after a 2-1 loss to Fulham at Craven Cottage. Wout Faes scored the Foxes’ only goal to restore parity before Alex Iwobi struck with the winner, twenty minutes before stoppage time.

With Steve Cooper failing to steer his side to a win, the Foxes have only a point going into Match Day 3, sitting in 15th place. On Saturday, they will be keen to pick up their first victory when they face Villa on home turf, especially having suffered only 7 defeats in 28 games against the visitors (11W, 10D, 7L).

A 4-2-3-1 formation with Jamie Vardy in attack is anticipated. Meanwhile, the Foxes will be without Jakub Stolarczyk and Patson Daka.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa failed to secure three successive wins against Arsenal after suffering a 2-0 defeat. This loss saw Villa slip to 12th place following an opening-day 2-1 victory over West Ham.

Villa now has three points [1W, 1D, 0L] ahead of Match Day 3. With two wins in three away games against Leicester City [2W, 1D, 0L], Unai Emery’s side is hopeful of earning another three points.

However, Villa’s defensive concerns might be a challenge this weekend. The visitors have failed to keep a clean sheet in seven consecutive games, conceding 15 goals during that period.

Unai Emery acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming match during a pre-match press conference. 'We have to respect them because if we don’t, they can threaten us. We have to be focused on the small details to stop their press, to stop their transition and their positions when they are attacking. They have good players with skills.’ Emery also singled out Jamie Vardy as a key player to watch.

A 4-4-1-1 formation with Ollie Watkins leading the attack is anticipated for the weekend’s game.
