Leganés vs Sevilla
La Liga this season
View moreOutcome Breakdown
Sevilla hoping to avoid two defeats in a row in trip to Leganés.
As Leganés aim to halt their slide near the relegation zone, they face a Sevilla side eager to rediscover their away form in what promises to be a compelling clash at Estadio Municipal de Butarque this Saturday evening.
Leganés
Leganés lost a La Liga match in which they scored three goals for the first time in their history following a 4-3 defeat against Girona. Los Pepineros managed to restore parity three times but couldn’t find a fourth goal after an unfortunate own goal by Sergio González in the 73rd minute.
Coach Borja Jiménez has now matched Mauricio Pellegrino and Javier Aguirre for the worst away starts by a Leganés coach, having failed to win any of their first seven away matches. "We were successful in attack, but we leave with the feeling that we have to do even more things well to get points away from home," Jiménez remarked after the game.
Leganés [DDLWL], currently sitting in 15th place and two points above the relegation zone, will be eager to climb further up the table when they face Sevilla at home. The hosts have secured both of their wins this season at home, but they have lost their last two matches against the visitors, failing to score in either.
A 4—1—2—1—2 formation is expected for the clash with Sevilla, featuring Miguel de la Fuente and Juan Cruz in attack. Meanwhile, Yvan Neyou will miss the match due to suspension from accumulated yellow cards.
Sevilla
Sevilla are coming into this clash on the back of a 2-0 away defeat at Real Sociedad. "We ran, maybe badly at times, but enough. Unfortunately, Real Sociedad was superior at many times," manager García Pimienta said after the game. "We had very clear chances to score a goal and change the dynamic, but after the penalty we tried, although more disorganized than we would have liked. A shame, because we weren't good," he added.
Sevilla [DWLWL] are on 15 points and sit in 13th place following the loss. Bouncing back with a win will be the aim for Los Nervionenses when they make the trip to Leganés, but Pimienta's side have won just one of their last nine La Liga away games [1W, 4D, 4L].
However, the win was in their most recent away game against Espanyol, which was also their first away win under Pimienta. Additionally, Sevilla have won two of their last three La Liga away games against Madrid-based opponents and have taken points in three of their four visits to Butarque in the top flight [2W, 1D, 1L].
A 4-2-3-1 formation, with Isaac Romero in attack, is expected for Saturday's clash.
