Lille looking to end five-game winless run as Le Havre clash looms.

Le Havre will look to halt their losing streak when they host an equally struggling Lille, both sides desperately searching for a vital win at Stade Océane on Saturday evening.

Le Havre

Le Havre will host Lille at the Stade Océane, looking to bounce back from consecutive defeats in Ligue 1. Despite responding to Monaco’s early lead through a Daler Kuzyayev equalizer in the 30th minute, Le Havre eventually succumbed to a second straight loss, leaving them with two wins and three defeats.

Currently 12th in Ligue 1 with 6 points, Didier Digard's side hopes to capitalise on Lille’s struggles to secure much-needed points. However, history is not on Le Havre's side. Lille has proven to be a formidable opponent, having beaten Le Havre in their last five Ligue 1 meetings.

A sixth consecutive defeat could equal Le Havre’s longest winless streak against Les Dogues, which stretches back to the first six encounters between 1945 and 1951. Furthermore, Le Havre’s scoring woes at home are particularly concerning, as they have failed to find the back of the net in their last four home games against Lille, conceding three goals in that span.

A fifth consecutive match without a goal would set an unwanted club record in Ligue 1. To turn their fortunes around, manager Digard is expected to field a 4—2—3—1 formation with Josué Casimir leading the attack. Unfortunately, the team will be without Andy Logbo, who is sidelined with an ACL injury, and Yonis Gomis, who continues to recover from a knee injury.

LOSC Lille

Lille are desperate for a turnaround. They have gone five games in all competitions without a win [0W, 1D, 4L].

In their most recent outing against Strasbourg, which ended 3-3, Lille managed to avoid defeat thanks to a brace from Edon Zhegrova [15', 27'] and a late penalty by Jonathan David [84' P.].

Sitting in 9th place with 7 points from five games [2W, 1D, 2L], Lille [WWLLD] will aim for their third Ligue 1 victory of the season under manager Bruno Génésio, who is eager to reverse his team’s fortunes. Lille’s form, however, has been inconsistent.

A win here will be crucial to raising Lille’s confidence ahead of next week’s UCL clash against Real Madrid. A 4—2—3—1 formation with Jonathan David leading the attack is expected for this fixture. Lille will have to contend with several key absences, including Nabil Bentaleb, who is sidelined due to illness.

‘It’s obviously good [that Mbappé is back]; it’s an area of the pitch where we really need [support],’ Génésio said following his side’s injury woes. ‘Maybe we’ll go to Madrid with the reserve team to save ourselves for the derby,’ he added sarcastically, referring to UCL MD 3’s clash against Atlético Madrid.
