Juve looking to extend winning streak as Roma visits.

Juventus, riding high under new manager Thiago Motta, look to maintain their perfect start to the season as they host struggling Roma at Allianz Stadium this Sunday evening.

Juventus

Juventus have found their rhythm under newly appointed manager Thiago Motta following a flying start to the season. The Old Lady recorded convincing 3-0 victories over Serie A debutants Como on the opening day and Hellas Verona on matchday two.

Against Verona, Thiago Motta’s side wrapped up the win before the hour mark, with a Dušan Vlahović brace (28’, P. 53’) and a goal from Nicolò Savona (39’). ‘We've only played two matches, even if we've done very well because we've won both and played very well,’ Motta told reporters.

The only team with a perfect record so far in the league, Juventus, sits at the top of the table and will be looking to continue their impressive run when they welcome old foes Roma this weekend. Only against Inter Milan has the Old Lady played more matches (182) and collected more wins (87).

Juventus has recorded 86 victories in 180 previous top-flight encounters (86W, 52D, 42L) against the visitors, scoring as many as 277 goals, with only Lazio conceding more in the league to the Bianconeri. The hosts will be looking to extend their perfect start to the season with a victory over Roma and also put an end to failing to win their first three games of a season, a jinx that dates back to the 2018/2019 campaign.

In addition to their impressive form, the Old Lady's dominant home record against Roma, with 11 wins in the last 13 league matches, leaves the odds in Juve’s favour. Motta is expected to deploy the familiar 4-2-3-1, with Vlahović in attack.

Juve will be without as many as four players, including Timothy Weah and Arkadiusz Milik, who are both expected to make a return in mid-September.

Roma

Unlike the hosts, Roma have endured a difficult start to their 2024-2025 Serie A campaign, having picked up just one point in their first two league games.

Daniele De Rossi’s side are coming off a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Empoli on home turf, leaving them in 15th place with a goal difference of -1. Still in search of a maiden victory, the Giallorossi make the trip to Turin, hoping to return as happy travellers.

However, their struggles on the road against Juventus, including a 21-game streak without a clean sheet, will leave behind more questions than answers. A 4-3-3 formation is expected, with Paulo Dybala, Matías Soulé, and new signing Artem Dovbyk, who is yet to find the back of the net for Roma, in attack.
