Juventus eyeing third-place finish in season's finale.

In the season's thrilling finale, Juventus will lock horns with Monza at Allianz Stadium, seeking a crucial victory to secure third place in the table.

Juventus

Caretaker manager Paolo Montero started off on a fine note despite leading Juventus to a 3-3 draw against Bologna on his debut. The Old Lady picked up a three-goal deficit inside fifteen minutes in Monday night’s battle for third place after a brace from Riccardo Calafiori [2’, 15’] and a goal from Santiago Castro [11’].

However, a late comeback inspired by Federico Chiesa [76’] helped Juve escape defeat by the whiskers. "This was an important and difficult game; we had a bad start, but then all the pride of the boys came out, and they showed the attachment they have for this jersey,'' Montero said after the game.

With the draw, the battle for a third-place finish is poised to go down to the wire on the final day of the season. Juventus [DDDDD], in 4th place, are right beneath third-placed Bologna, who have just as many points, 68, but with a better goal difference.

Despite having drawn six games in a row, Juventus [18W, 14D, & 5L] shouldn’t have any problem putting Monza, who are on an eight-game winless streak, aside. Victory over Monza will hand the Girlfriend of Italy a league double over the visitors following a 2-1 win in the reverse fixture.

However, the Bianconeri would need to win, and perhaps by a wide-goal margin, to finish ahead of Bologna on the final day of the season. Montero is expected to retain the 3—5—2, with Federico Chiesa and Dušan Vlahović in attack. Meanwhile, Andrea Cambiaso is suspended for the final game of the season.

Monza

Monza will be looking to finish one spot ahead in 11th place when they take on Juve on Saturday. The visitors are currently in 12th place on the Serie A table, with 45 points, just one point behind Genoa.

Following a 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Frosinone last weekend, Monza has suffered back-to-back defeats. Their last victory came in mid-March when they narrowly beat Cagliari 1-0.

Interestingly, Monza could achieve back-to-back away victories over Juventus, having won 2-0 in this fixture last season. However, this followed successive defeats on the road against the Old Lady.

Leapfrogging Genoa would see Monza finish in 11th place, the same position they achieved last season. Raffaele Palladino is expected to stick with the 4-2-3-1 formation for the final game, with Milan Đurić leading the attack. Unfortunately, Dario Gomez is suspended for Saturday's clash.
