Madrid back against near-relegated Granada after reaching 18th UCL final.

Granada CF, teetering on the brink of relegation, face the mighty Real Madrid—fresh from their UEFA Champions League heroics—at Nuevo Los Cármenes in a clash that could seal Granada's fate.

Granada

Near-relegated Granada suffered a huge blow to their La Liga survival hopes after a 3-0 loss to Sevilla at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán last weekend. Despite taking eight shots, with three on target, Granada failed to find the back of the net, leaving the hosts all but relegated.

It was the club’s second defeat in five La Liga games [LWDWL], one that leaves the Nazaríes in 19th place with 21 points [4W, 9D, & 21L]. The hosts are 11 points shy of safety with four games left to play ahead of this weekend's clash against UCL finalists Real Madrid, an encounter expected to be the final nail in the coffin.

Meanwhile, having won their last two home games in La Liga without conceding, the hosts are looking to win a third consecutive home game for the first time since December 2021. However, the Nazaríes have lost each of their last 15 matches against Real Madrid in La Liga.

Furthermore, a torrid run of form leaves Granada with 21 defeats in their last 22 matches against Real Madrid in the competition. A conventional 4-4-2 with Matías Arezo and Lucas Boyé in attack is expected. Miguel Angel Rubio is suspended, having picked up an additional booking against Sevilla.

Real Madrid

Real Madrid reached their 18th UEFA Champions League final on Wednesday night after a late 2-1 comeback win over Bayern Munich in the semi-final second leg.

A fabulous right-footed curler from Alphonso Davies [68’] off the bench left Bayern in the lead until fellow substitute Joselu [88’, 90’+1] completed the brace in stoppage time, leaving Madrid with an aggregate 4-3 win.

"We played well; I think it was a tough game, but we had control, we didn't lose our heads when they scored, and we got back into it," Ancelotti said after reaching a personal milestone of a sixth UCL final.

Back in La Liga, the Whites have little to play for, having recently been crowned champions of Spain. However, extending a seven-game winning streak could serve as motivation, although Ancelotti is expected to field a weaker squad.

Madrid [WWWWW], with 87 points [27W, 6D, & 1L], have won their last seven away games against Granada in La Liga. In addition, the Whites are on a 28-game unbeaten run in the competition [22W, 6D, 0L].

A 4—1—2—1—2 formation with mid-week hero Joselu and Wednesday’s UCL ‘Player of the Match’ Vinícius Júnior in attack is expected.
