Table-topping Barcelona eye back-to-back victories over Getafe.

As Barcelona looks to extend their perfect La Liga record, Getafe arrives at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys hoping to upset the high-flying Catalans on Wednesday evening.

FC Barcelona

Raphinha's goals in the 75th and 83rd minutes, along with Pablo Torre's strike at the 58th, secured Barcelona a 5-1 triumph over Villarreal at the weekend. This comfortable victory left the Catalans as the only side in La Liga with a 100% winning record after Match Day 6, boasting six wins.

It was an excellent way to bounce back from their midweek 2-1 UCL defeat to Monaco. Now returning to domestic duties, table-topping Barca aims to maintain their four-point lead at the top of the table as they face Getafe on Wednesday.

With former Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick at the helm, Barcelona, currently La Liga's best-attacking side with 22 goals, will seek to extend their six-game winning run in the league. The Catalans have netted 16 goals in their last three league matches.

Last time out, Barcelona thrashed Getafe 4-0 on home turf, ending a run of two goalless games. A victory here would mean back-to-back wins against Getafe and extend their unbeaten run to eight games in La Liga against these opponents.

A 4-2-3-1 formation is anticipated, with La Liga’s top scorer Robert Lewandowski spearheading the attack. Ferran Torres is set to rejoin the squad following a red card suspension, while Dani Olmo and four others are out due to injuries. Both Frenkie De Jong and Gavi have returned to training.

Getafe

A penalty from Borja Mayoral in the 83rd minute helped Getafe earn a precious point in a 1-1 draw against newly promoted Leganes. Moments earlier, Jorge Sáenz had put Leganes ahead before Getafe restored parity in front of the home crowd.

The visitors are currently in 18th place with 4 points on the board, having recorded 0 wins, 4 draws, and 2 losses. Alongside Las Palmas, Getafe is one of only two sides without a win in La Liga this season.

While a victory in their visit to Barcelona seems unlikely, Getafe could draw inspiration from their ability to earn a point in three of their last five games against the hosts. Assistant manager Patri, who was in the dugout against Leganes, will be in charge once again after head coach José Bordalás received a two-match ban for dissent in their 2-1 loss to Betis on Matchday 5.

A defensive 5-3-2 formation is expected for this midweek clash. Nabil Aberdin and Álvaro Rodríguez are both ruled out.
