Palace take on West Ham in Saturday's London derby.

As Crystal Palace aim to secure their fifth consecutive home victory, they welcome West Ham to Selhurst Park for a London Derby full of promise, as both teams seek redemption following opening-day defeats.

Crystal Palace

Palace failed to secure a winning start in their opening match against Brentford, losing 2-1 despite drawing level three minutes before the hour mark. An own goal from Ethan Pinnock brought them back into the game after Bryan Mbeumo's fabulous left-footed curler had initially put Brentford ahead.

Unfortunately for Palace, Yoane Wissa scored from close range after Dean Henderson failed to deal with a shot, giving Brentford the win. Oliver Glasner, though disappointed with the result and Eze’s disallowed goal, was impressed with his team's performance.

Looking ahead to Saturday, Glasner hopes his side can secure a home victory against West Ham, a feat they achieved in their last two home encounters with the Hammers. A win would mark Palace's fifth consecutive home victory in the Premier League, following four successive home wins last season.

Concerning team selection, Ivan Toney was unexpectedly left out of last weekend's match, with Thomas Frank opting to exclude the 28-year-old amidst transfer speculation. It's likely Toney will miss Saturday's game as Glasner is expected to deploy a familiar 3-4-2-1 formation, featuring Jean-Philippe Mateta in attack.

West Ham United

Just like Palace, West Ham also began the new season with a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa, after drawing level at some point. Lucas Paqueta converted from the penalty spot after a tangle in the box, but Jhon Durán became West Ham’s nemesis after a deal to move to the team fell through.

The 20-year-old Colombian came off the bench to hand the Hammers their first defeat of the season. Although West Ham lost their last three Premier League games against fellow London sides last season, they will be keen to secure their first win of the new campaign on Saturday against the Eagles in this London Derby.

Onlookers could be in for another goal fest, as the last four meetings between the sides have produced 24 goals, with 13 for the hosts and 11 for Julen Lopetegui’s team. After a defeat on his first day on the job, Lopetegui will be eager to win over the home crowd this weekend.

A 4–1–4–1 formation, featuring new arrival Niclas Füllkrug, who made his debut against Villa, in attack, is anticipated for Saturday’s clash.
