Chelsea eyeing back-to-back victories in London derby against Palace.

As Chelsea seeks their second consecutive Premier League victory, they welcome Crystal Palace to Stamford Bridge for Sunday's London derby, where the Eagles look to defy history and halt their 13-game losing streak against the Blues.

Chelsea

A 6-2 win over Leicester City put any doubts about seeing the old Chelsea once again this season to bed, especially after a 2-0 opening-day defeat. A hattrick from Noni Madueke not only helped Chelsea pick up the convincing win but also handed him a personal milestone of becoming the second-highest goal scorer in the Premier League, behind Erling Haaland.

But Madueke wasn't the only Chelsea employee to leave the King Power Stadium with a personal milestone. Enzo Maresca became the first manager in the Premier League to see his team score six goals in their first away game in the competition.

Despite a midweek 2-1 loss to Servette in the Europa Conference League playoffs, although going through on an aggregate 3-2 win, the Blues will be looking to repeat last weekend’s wide-margin victory over Palace in Sunday’s London derby. Surely, a 13-game winning run over the visitors will leave Chelsea in high spirits before the weekend.

However, a defeat at Stamford Bridge on Sunday would leave Chelsea with back-to-back defeats in their first two games on home turf for the first time since 1978-79. Enzo Maresca is expected to deploy a 4—2—3—1 with Nicolas Jackson in attack.

Reece James is ruled out, while Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell are expected to make an exit before the transfer deadline.

Crystal Palace

Palace confidently dismantled Norwich City with a 4-0 victory in the EFL Cup midweek. However, their Premier League form tells a different story as the Eagles are still searching for their first win of the season.

Sitting in 17th place after consecutive losses, including a 2-0 defeat to West Ham last weekend, Palace are without a point. They face a daunting task in their upcoming match against Chelsea, a team they've struggled against, with 24 losses in 30 encounters and only 4 wins and 2 draws.

This record marks the highest number of defeats any side has suffered against an opponent in as many matches within the competition. Despite this, Oliver Glasner’s team hopes to face a different Chelsea, rather than the squad that recently defeated Leicester City, 6-0.

The anticipated formation is a 3-4-2-1, led by Jean-Philippe Mateta in attack. Unfortunately, Chadi Riad and Matheus Franca will miss the London derby due to injuries. "Matheus França, still with his fractured rib, is out. Chadi, with his knee injury now, is out. I think everybody else is available," Glasner mentioned in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
