Newcastle looking to move into sixth place in Saturday's clash with Burnley.

Burnley, fighting for Premier League survival, host Newcastle at Turf Moor on Saturday, hoping to defy the odds and secure a critical win against the in-form Magpies.

Burnley

Burnley are two points shy of safety after picking up a point in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United last time out. Zeki Amdouni, who came off the bench, earned Burnley a point after converting from the penalty spot.

The Clarets, who are in 19th place, have 24 points going into the weekend. They hope to pick up an unlikely win to increase their chances of Premier League survival.

"The problem is that they (Newcastle) have not a lot of weaknesses and they have a lot of strengths. But it’s a game at Turf Moor; anything is possible," Vincent Kompany said in a pre-match press conference. He added, "Newcastle were the first view of what a Premier League team looked like for us. Athleticism, speed, players who are experienced but also tactically versatile, technically capable, and have a goal threat in many, many ways."

Burnley have won just two of their 13 Premier League matches against Newcastle United, losing the last five in a row. However, they have lost just one of their last eight Premier League games, going down 1-0 at Everton last month.

A 4-4-2 formation with Foster and Fofana in attack is anticipated. As many as five players, including Luca Koleosho and Nathan Redmond, are ruled out of the weekend’s game.

Newcastle United

Newcastle are in 7th place on the Premier League table with 53 points (16W, 5D, & 13L), hoping to pick up back-to-back victories as they look to make a top-six finish. The visitors are only one point adrift of sixth-placed Manchester United ahead of Saturday's fixture.

With five consecutive Premier League wins over Burnley, Newcastle United will be looking to win six in a row against the hosts for the first time in club history. Victory on Saturday would see the Magpies climb above Manchester United temporarily ahead of their game against Crystal Palace on Monday.

A 4-3-3 formation with Barnes, Isak, and Antony Gordon in attack is anticipated. However, the Magpies will have as many as ten players ruled out for the weekend’s game.

In other news, Sandro Tonali, who is currently on a ten-month suspension, has been given a suspended two-month ban from competitive football by an independent Regulatory Commission. The player was also fined £20,000 and warned by the FA about his future conduct after self-declaring breaches of the FA Betting Rules.
