Unbeaten Brighton face fellow unbeaten Forest in weekend clash.

In a clash that promises to test their unbeaten streaks, Brighton & Hove Albion hosts Nottingham Forest at Falmer Stadium on Sunday, following the Seagulls' EFL Cup triumph and the Tricky Trees' stunning victory over Liverpool.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Fabian Hürzeler's fairy tale run with Brighton continued in the EFL Cup, where the Seagulls achieved a 3-2 victory over Wolves in the third round. This win followed last weekend's goalless draw against newly promoted Ipswich Town.

After two successive draws, Brighton [WWDD] slipped three places down the table to 6th place, accumulating eight points from four Premier League games [2W, 2D, 0L]. Extending their unbeaten run to five games would mark the first time Brighton remains unbeaten in the opening matches of a Premier League season.

Addressing the upcoming match, Hürzeler said, “I’m not surprised. I think they [Nottingham] have great individual players. They have a good style of play. They have a good compactness. They defend well.” He went on to highlight their quick transition moments and acknowledged the challenge they pose.

A 4-2-3-1 formation with Danny Welbeck leading the attack is anticipated for Sunday’s match against the Tricky Trees. João Pedro's participation remains uncertain, as Hürzeler mentioned, “He will train with the team on Friday, and then we have to see how it’s going – if he can train fully, if he can do all the movements. We won’t take any risk, but he will be part of the training.”

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest pulled off the biggest upset in the Premier League this season after becoming the first side to defeat red-hot Liverpool, with a 1-0 win last weekend. A single goal from the substitute, Callum Hudson-Odoi, in the 72nd minute steered the Tricky Trees to their second win of the season, having alternated between a draw and a win (DWDW).

Nottingham, who sit right below the Seagulls while having the same number of points—8 (2W, 2D, 0L)—will be looking to leapfrog Brighton when both sides meet at the Falmer Stadium on Sunday. Meanwhile, escaping defeat would leave the Tricky Trees unbeaten in the opening five Premier League games for the first time since the 1995-1996 season.

A 4—2—3—1 formation with Chris Wood is expected for this weekend’s clash against the Seagulls. Ibrahim Sangare and Willy Boly are doubts, while Danilo is ruled out.
