In a clash of ambitions, Brest kicks off their Champions League debut season against Marseille, who seek redemption under Roberto De Zerbi, in an enticing battle at Stade Francis-Le-Blé this Saturday.

Brest were in great form last season in the 2023–24 Ligue 1 season, achieving their highest-ever finish in the top flight by finishing third. With this third-place finish, Les Pirates qualified directly for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history.
This season, the club's new arrivals include defenders Julien Le Cardinal and Jordan Amavi, who joined on a free transfer. Meanwhile, Les Pirates had a challenging pre-season, winning just one of their six games.
Despite this, they will aim to draw inspiration from their last home game against Marseille, securing a narrow 1–0 victory. The last five encounters between the two clubs have ended with two wins each and a draw.
Coach Éric Roy will be keen to surpass Marseille in their next meeting this weekend. A familiar 4—3—3 formation is expected, with Romain Del Castillo, Jérémy Le Douaron, and Ludovic Ajorque leading the attack.

The club has bolstered its attack with the permanent signing of Mason Greenwood from Manchester United and Elye Wahi from RC Lens. Additional reinforcements include Isaac Koné, Bamo Meïté, and Pierre-Emile Højbjerg, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left for Saudi Arabia.
Les Olympiens had a productive pre-season, recording three wins out of five matches, along with a loss and a draw. They haven't defeated Brest since their last victory in March 2022 but will be seeking a win when they visit Stade Francis-Le-Blé.
The visitors have won all four of their opening games since 2019, following a setback against Reims, and are keen to extend this streak to five games. De Zerbi is expected to deploy his renowned 4-2-3-1 formation, featuring Elye Wahi up front.
However, the team will be missing Geoffrey Kondogbia and Lilian Brassier due to suspension, while Valentin Rongier is sidelined with a knee injury.
