''We must be ready to fight,'' Wissa says ahead of London derby against Fulham.
In a bid to bounce back from their recent setback, Brentford host Fulham in a highly anticipated London Derby at Brentford Community Stadium on May 4th.
Brentford
Last weekend’s defeat to Everton didn't just put an end to Bournemouth’s five-game unbeaten run [DDWWL], but also secured the Toffees a place in the Premier League.
Brentford, who are in 16th place with 35 points [9W, 8D, & 18L], take on Fulham, hoping to bounce back to winning ways. It’s been a pale season for the Bees compared with their exploits in the previous season, where they finished 9th.
Fine form against the Cottagers could boost Brentford’s confidence for Saturday's London Derby, potentially securing all three points. The Bees, with a goal ratio of 1.49 GPG this season, have scored 52 goals in 35 Premier League games.
Brentford could achieve a league double over Fulham following a 3-0 win in the reverse fixture. They have also won five of their last eight games against Fulham across all competitions [5W, 1D, 2L].
A victory on Saturday would give Brentford back-to-back home wins over Fulham, following a 3-2 win in this fixture last season. A 4-3-3 formation with Wissa, Toney, and Bryan Mbeumo in attack is expected.
"It is an easy game to be motivated for because it means a lot to the fans," said Wissa. "We had a good result against them earlier in the season, and that was a great day for our supporters, but we know they’ll want to correct that, so we must be ready to fight again," he added.
Ben Mee and Aaron Hickey are among the four players ruled out for Saturday's clash.
Fulham
Fulham are in 13th place on the Premier League table, with 43 points (12W, 7D, & 16L), having gone two games without a victory (LLWLD).
The Cottagers recently earned a point in a 1-1 draw against Palace. Rodrigo Muniz put them in front in the 52nd minute, but Jeffrey Schlupp, who came off the bench, leveled the score in the 87th minute.
Despite being five points outside the upper half of the table, a top-ten finish remains mathematically possible for Fulham, who finished 10th last season.
A 4-2-3-1 formation with Muniz in attack is expected for their game against the Bees. Marco Silva, who boasts a 45% winning rate with Fulham, has no injury concerns ahead of Saturday’s London Derby with Brentford.
