Atlético Madrid will seek their first win of the season as they host Girona at Cívitas Metropolitano this Sunday, hoping to maintain their record of winning at least one of their first two La Liga fixtures since 2016.

Atlético Madrid began their 2024-2025 season with a 2-2 draw against Villarreal in last weekend’s league opener. A goal-laden first half saw Diego Simeone’s side fight back twice to earn a well-deserved point, courtesy of goals from Marcos Llorente [20'] and new signing Alexander Sørloth [45+5’], who scored his first competitive goal for Atlético against his former team.
