2 Arsenal vs 0 Paris Saint Germain
Arsenal and PSG go head-to-head on UCL Match Day 2.
As Arsenal host Paris Saint-Germain in a high-stakes UEFA Champions League encounter at the Emirates Stadium, both teams aim to overcome injury woes and extend their unbeaten streaks, promising an electrifying night of football.
Arsenal
Arsenal narrowly avoided a potential setback to their title aspirations after wasting a two-goal lead at home against Leicester City. Luckily, Wilfred Ndidi's fortuitous own goal [O.G. 90'+4] and Kai Havertz's late strike [90'+9] in stoppage time saved the Gunners, enabling them to win 4-2.
Mikel Arteta's side remained unbeaten in the Premier League after six matches [4W, 2D, & 0L], sitting in 3rd place with 14 points, one behind league leaders Liverpool. Arsenal [WDDWW] will be hoping to record their first UCL win of the season when they take on PSG on Tuesday, after an opening day goalless draw away at Atalanta.
The Gunners are unbeaten in their four previous meetings with the Parisians in European competitions [1W, 3D, & 0L]. The last time the English side faced a French team at home was last season against Lens, a game they won 6-0, which is the biggest-ever win by an English side over a French side in European competitions.
Havertz and Trossard, who were both on target against Leicester, are expected to lead the attack in a 4—4—2 formation. Meanwhile, Arsenal's captain Martin Ødegaard, who is out with an ankle injury, headlines a long injury list for the Gunners.
Paris Saint Germain
PSG, who dropped points for the first time this season against Reims, bounced back with a 3-1 win over Rennes last Friday.
The French side narrowly defeated Girona 1-0 in their opening Champions League fixture, courtesy of a late own goal by the opposition's goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga.
Luis Enrique's side will head into Tuesday's fixture looking to end a four-match winless run against the Gunners. The Parisians have played more games against Arsenal without winning than against any other side in European competition.
The visitors have also lost each of their last away games against English sides in the UCL, losing twice to Manchester City and once to Newcastle United. PSG's 4-1 defeat to Newcastle in last season's UCL was their heaviest away defeat to an English side in European competition.
However, Enrique will be counting on his good UCL record against fellow Spanish managers, having beaten each of the previous five as Mikel Arteta becomes the sixth.
Bradley Barcola and Lee Kang-in, who both found the net against Rennes, are expected to start in attack alongside Ousmane Dembélé in a 4-3-3 formation.
The visitors have a long injury list that includes first-choice goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma (thigh).
