Arsenal put title celebrations in place ahead of season finale.

In a season finale charged with title drama, Arsenal host Everton at the Emirates, hoping to clinch victory and keep their Premier League dreams alive while praying for a slip from Manchester City.

Arsenal

Arsenal saw their title hopes suffer a major blow on Tuesday after Manchester City swept Tottenham aside in a comfortable 2-0 win. This victory replaced the Gunners at the top of the table.

They remain in the running for the Premier League title but must defeat Everton in Sunday’s finale to stand any chance of preventing the Sky Blues, who are two points clear, from winning a record 4th Premier League title. Arsenal have 86 points going into the final game of the season, where they would be counting on West Ham to hold City to at least a draw.

A draw for the Sky Blues would see Arsenal pick up the title by goal difference, assuming they secure a win over Everton. The Gunners have lost just one of their last 27 Premier League home games against the Toffees, so a decisive encounter shouldn't have their nerves rattled.

Furthermore, Arsenal's impeccable record on the final day of the season leaves them as the side with more final-day Premier League wins than any other team. A 4-3-3 formation with Leandro Trossard, Saka, and Kai Havertz, who was named in Germany’s Euro 2024 squad on Thursday, is expected in attack.

Despite the odds, Arsenal have plans in place for a possible title celebration with an open-top bus parade through the streets of Islington on Monday, May 20.

Everton

Having already achieved mathematical safety, Everton currently occupy 15th place. They aim to maintain this position on the final day of the season, knowing that Brentford is just one point behind.

The Toffees, with 40 points [13W, 9D, & 15L], can only finish in 15th place as 14th-placed Fulham are four points ahead. Everton [WWWDW], who finished last season in 17th place, lost the reverse fixture against Arsenal 1-0 and could now suffer a league double against the Gunners for the first time since 2017-18.

In addition, no side has lost their final game of the Premier League season more often than the Toffees [14]. Sean Dyche is expected to keep the familiar 4-4-1-1 formation seen last weekend in the 1-0 win over already-relegated Sheffield. Dominic Calvert-Lewin is expected to lead the attack once again.
