"We want to win the title,'' Mikel Arteta says ahead of London Derby.
After a crushing defeat to Newcastle, Spurs aim to reignite their top-four hopes in a high-stakes London derby against title-chasing Arsenal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Sunday.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham, who failed to feature in the midweek round of fixtures, will make a return in Sunday’s London derby against Arsenal. They are hoping to forget last weekend’s embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Newcastle United.
It was the club’s second defeat in five Premier League games, one that saw them slip one spot down the table to 5th place, leaving them with 60 points. Spurs are six points adrift of 4th-placed Aston Villa going into the weekend’s London derby.
They hope to secure only their second win in seven meetings with the Gunners, having won just one of their last six Premier League games against Arsenal. Chances of a top-four finish continue to hang in the balance.
Ange Postecoglou is expected to deploy a 4-2-3-1 formation with Son Heung-min in attack. Richarlison and Pedro Porro are back in the squad, while Destiny Udogie is ruled out for the remainder of the campaign after surgery on his quadriceps.
Arsenal
Table-topping Arsenal are back in the title race, hoping to extend their winning run to three games in a row after sweeping Chelsea aside in a 5-0 win in the midweek round of fixtures.
A two-horse race, alongside Manchester City, who have a game in hand, is now anticipated, with Liverpool falling by the wayside following a midweek 2-0 loss to Everton.
Arsenal, who have 77 points, could pick up back-to-back away wins over Tottenham, following a 2-0 win in this exact fixture last season. Achieving this feat would see Arsenal do so for the first time since a run of three away wins over Spurs between 1987 and 1988.
Victory would see Arsenal end the weekend at the top of the table with just three games left to play in the title race.
"Two years in a row we are not satisfied that we want to win it, we are going to do everything we can to win it and if we do win it, we are going to try to win it again," Mikel Arteta said on his side’s Premier League title pursuit.
A 4-3-3 formation with Kai Havertz, who bagged a brace against Chelsea, Saka, and Leandro Trossard is expected in attack against Spurs.
