Switzerland broke the deadlock in the 28th minute with Dan Ndoye finding the net, courtesy of an assist by Remo Freuler. This strike ended the goalless stretch and fired up the Swiss supporters.
However, Germany managed to level the score in extra time when Niclas Füllkrug scored, with David Raum providing the assist. This late equaliser ensured a captivating finish at Deutsche Bank Park.
Despite the 1-1 draw, Switzerland successfully secured their progression to the next round of Euro 2024. "It's always disappointing when you concede late in the game. In general, I think we showed great character, we held the ball, we played very well, and in the end, we can be happy with the point," remarked Player of the Match, Granit Xhaka.
