Wolves in search of maiden season win in Brentford clash.

As Brentford aim to end a three-game winless streak and climb the Premier League table, they face bottom-placed Wolves at the Gtech Community Stadium, where the Wanderers hope their encouraging away record against the Bees inspires a first victory of the season.

Brentford

Brentford recently ended a two-game losing streak by securing a point in a London derby against West Ham. Bryan Mbeumo's early goal in the first minute marked the third consecutive Premier League match where the Bees scored in the opening minute, a unique achievement, although they did not secure a win in any of those games, tallying a draw and two losses.

Despite this, Brentford managed to hold onto 12th place with 7 points from their first six matches, their record being two wins, one draw, and three losses. An upcoming match against Wolves presents an opportunity for Brentford to achieve back-to-back victories over the visitors for the first time since the 2015-16 Championship campaign.

The Bees aim to climb into the upper half of the table; however, if a win seems unlikely, they would likely be satisfied with a draw. They have only managed to win once in their last five encounters with Wolves. A 4—4—2 formation is expected, with Bryan Mbeumo, whose volley against Tottenham was nominated for 'Goal of the Month' in September, partnering Fábio Carvalho in the attack.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

The Wanderers remained at the bottom of the table after a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool last weekend. Wolves were on course to earn a point, but a Mohamed Salah penalty one minute after the hour mark left them with nothing.

While sitting at the bottom of the table, with three losses in a row [LDLLL], Wolves are one of only two sides to have just a point [0W, 1D, 5L]. They are also winless in the first six Premier League games and could extend this streak to seven, something they haven't done since 2003-04.

However, their strong record on the road against the Bees could be a source of inspiration as they continue searching for their first victory. Gary O’Neil’s side are unbeaten in their last five away league games against Brentford.

Gary O’Neil could deploy a 4-3-3 formation, with Matheus Cunha, Jørgen Stran, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde leading the attack. Yerson Mosquera is ruled out for a lengthy spell due to a knee injury.

Additionally, Wolves will be missing up to five players, including Boubacar Traore, Bastien Meupiyou, and Toti Gomes. This depletion of the squad adds to their challenge as they seek to overturn their fortunes.
