Toni Martínez and Asier Villalibre won the match for Deportivo Alavés against Real Sociedad

The away side, Deportivo Alavés, edged out a thrilling victory against Real Sociedad at Anoeta Stadium, winning 2-1 in La Liga on Wednesday.

Real Sociedad faced adversity early when Mikel Oyarzabal was sent off in the 29th minute, leaving them a man down.

Despite this setback, Brais Méndez put Real Sociedad in the lead just three minutes later, netting a goal with an assist from Sergio Gómez.

Just before half-time, Asier Villalibre equalised for Deportivo Alavés with a composed penalty, making it 1-1.

The decider came in the 77th minute when Toni Martínez found the back of the net, completing Deportivo Alavés' impressive comeback.

Looking ahead, Real Sociedad will face Getafe on 1 September, Real Madrid on 15 September, and play away at Real Valladolid on 22 September. Deportivo Alavés' upcoming matches include Las Palmas on 1 September, Espanyol on 15 September, and a home game against Sevilla on 22 September.

With this victory, Deportivo Alavés move into 10th in the league, leaving Real Sociedad in 13th place.
