PSG take on Strasbourg, hoping to return to winning ways.
In a captivating clash at Parc des Princes, Paris Saint-Germain aim to break their brief winless spell and reclaim dominance against RC Strasbourg, a side hoping to extend their own unbeaten run amid a challenging away form.
Paris Saint Germain
PSG have now failed to win in two of their last three Ligue 1 games, following a 1-1 draw against Nice just before the international break. This result saw the Ligue 1 champions relinquish their spot at the top of the table for the first time this season, dropping to 2nd place with 17 points, two points behind Monaco.
Manager Luis Enrique, reportedly on the verge of extending his contract with PSG, will be hoping his side returns to winning ways when they take on Strasbourg on Saturday. The Parisians are winless in their last two competitive games, following a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.
"I think the start to the season has been better than the last," Enrique expressed optimism after the draw with Nice. The hosts will be confident of halting this winless streak against Strasbourg, given their strong home record against Saturday's visitors.
PSG are unbeaten in their 33 home games against Le Racing, with 26 wins and 7 draws. No other side in Ligue 1 history has played as many home games against the same opponent without losing, but PSG will be hoping to keep a clean sheet this time around.
Enrique's team has conceded in 12 of their last 14 league outings. Bradley Barcola and Randal Kolo Muani both found the net for France during the international break and are expected to start in attack alongside Ousmane Dembélé in a 4—3—3 formation.
Meanwhile, long-term absentees Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernández, and Gonçalo Ramos remain sidelined.
Strasbourg
Strasbourg came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Lens just before the international break. With the draw, Le Racing climbed one spot to 7th place, having picked up 10 points [2W, 4D, & 1L]. This is their best position at this stage since 1995-96 when they were 9th at the same time.
Unbeaten in their last four league games, Liam Rosenior's men will hope to extend their unbeaten streak to five matches [LDDWD]. However, the visitors’ away record casts doubt on their ability to extend the streak further.
No team in Ligue 1 has fewer wins on the road than Le Racing this year, having won only one of their 12 away games in the top flight. A 4—2—3—1 formation with Emanuel Emegha in attack is expected against PSG.
However, Guela Doué and Ismaël Doukouré will both miss this clash due to suspension for accumulated yellow cards.
