Poland and Netherlands have a thrilling week ahead. Poland faces Austria on June 21, followed by France on June 25. Meanwhile, the Netherlands will meet France on June 21 and then Austria on June 25.
In a gripping match at Volksparkstadion, Poland drew first blood as Adam Buksa netted a brilliant goal 16 minutes in, assisted by Piotr Zieliński. Despite Poland's relentless attack, the Dutch managed to find their rhythm.
"This should have been 4-1 in our favor after one hour; we played very well but couldn't finish opportunities," said Netherlands' coach Ronald Koeman. Despite Polish threats, Netherlands stayed resilient and clinched a 2-1 victory in their opening Euro 2024 encounter.
The Dutch fightback began when Cody Gakpo equalized after nearly 30 minutes, assisted by Nathan Aké. With just seven minutes remaining, Wout Weghorst seized the moment, again assisted by Aké, to secure the comeback win for the Netherlands.
