Marseille host PSG in highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash.

In a fiery top-of-the-table clash, Marseille host defending champions PSG at the Stade Vélodrome, aiming to end their scoring drought against the league leaders and deliver their first loss of the season.

Olympique Marseille

Marseille remained in red-hot form under Roberto De Zerbi, having demolished Montpellier 5-0 in their last match. Occupying third place with 17 points in Ligue 1, a rejuvenated Les Phocéens, benefiting from a midweek without European duties, are looking to inflict upon PSG what will be their maiden season defeat.

This is the 108th competitive clash between the two teams, with Marseille winning 34, drawing 23, and losing 50 times. It's also the 90th time they meet in Ligue 1. While Marseille have lost only 13 of their 44 home games against PSG, they have gone four games in a row without finding the back of the net against Les Parisiens.

An unimpressive drought they will be looking to end when they host the league leaders, being the second-best attacking side in Ligue 1 with 21 goals, just four behind Sunday's opponents. Looking to keep up their dominant form, De Zerbi is expected to field a 4—3—3, with Elye Wahi and Mason Greenwood, who were on target against Montpellier, joining Luis Henrique in attack.

Meanwhile, Quentin Merlin and Rubén Blanco are ruled out for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Paris Saint Germain

PSG earned a 1-1 draw against PSV in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Achraf Hakimi’s stunning strike in the 55th minute salvaged a point following Noa Lang’s opener in the 34th minute.

The draw leaves the French side in 19th place in the revamped Champions League standings, with four points from three matches. "It is difficult to accept the result after a game like that, but we already know that football is often unfair," a disappointed Luis Enrique said after the draw.

Although PSG remains unbeaten in Ligue 1, they have alternated between a win and a draw in the last five games [WDWDW]. They sit atop the table after picking up 20 points following last weekend’s 4-2 win over Strasbourg.

The league leaders have failed to keep a shutout in six consecutive Ligue 1 games. Ensuring a few points remain between themselves and 3rd-placed Marseille remains the objective on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Luis Enrique has rotated his squad extensively in Ligue 1 this season. All 22 players used have started at least once.

He is expected to deploy a 4-3-3 with Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembélé, and Marco Asensio in attack. Presnel Kimpembe is PSG’s only absentee for the trip to Marseille.
