Manchester City strengthen title grip with another win
Brentford shocked Manchester City when Yoane Wissa netted in the very first minute. The early goal set the stage for an electrifying match.
Manchester City didn't take long to respond. Erling Haaland found the net in the 19th minute, making it 1-1.
Haaland, the Premier League's top scorer, made history by becoming the first player to score nine goals in the first four games of the competition.
City then took the lead as Haaland scored again, this time with an assist by Ederson in the 32nd minute, completing Manchester City's comeback.
"I don't remember in eight, nine years a team that played like Brentford in the first 30 minutes," Pep said after the win. "They were really good, and we were lucky. Second half was our best, and we created a lot of chances and we could score more," he added.
Manchester City will face Arsenal on 22 September, Newcastle United on 28 September, and Fulham (home) on 5 October. Meanwhile, Brentford's next fixtures include Tottenham Hotspur on 21 September, West Ham United on 28 September, and Wolverhampton Wanderers (home) on 5 October.
League leaders Manchester City continue to impress. With a 2-1 win at home against Brentford, they extended their lead in the Premier League, with a three-point gap to second-placed Liverpool. Brentford currently occupy ninth place in the league.
This victory marks an impressive four straight wins for Manchester City.
